Step-by-step guides to help you get the most out of AsPeach. Each tutorial walks you through a specific feature with clear, actionable steps.

01. Your First Transcription~2 min read

Install AsPeach, grant permissions, and speak your first sentence. See your voice turn into text instantly.

  1. Download and install AsPeach from our homepage.
  2. Launch the app and grant Microphone + Accessibility permissions.
  3. Wait for the default Whisper model to download (takes about 30 seconds).
  4. Place your cursor in any text field — Notes, Slack, your browser, anywhere.
  5. Press Option + Space to start recording.
  6. Speak naturally: "Hello, this is my first transcription with AsPeach."
  7. Press Option + Space again to stop. Your text appears instantly.

02. Choosing the Right Whisper Model~3 min read

Understand the difference between Tiny, Base, Small, Medium, and Large models. Pick the best one for your hardware and workflow.

  1. Open AsPeach settings from the menu bar icon.
  2. Navigate to the Model section.
  3. Try the Small model first — it's the best balance for most users.
  4. If you have an M1 Pro/Max or newer, try Medium for better accuracy.
  5. If accuracy is critical (medical, legal), use the Large model.
  6. For quick notes and drafts, Tiny or Base is fast enough.
  7. Each model downloads once and is stored locally — switch anytime.

03. Context-Aware Output~3 min read

Let AsPeach automatically adjust tone based on which app you're using. Casual for Slack, professional for email.

  1. Make sure you have Ollama installed (AsPeach will prompt you if not).
  2. Enable Context-Aware mode in Settings → Output.
  3. Open Slack and dictate a message — notice the casual, conversational tone.
  4. Switch to Mail and dictate — the same words come out professional and polished.
  5. Try VS Code — you'll get raw, unformatted text perfect for code comments.
  6. Context-Aware mode works with most popular macOS applications.
  7. You can customize app-specific rules in Settings → Context Rules.

04. AI Auto-Edit & Cleanup~2 min read

Speak messy, paste clean. Let AI remove filler words, fix grammar, and polish your text automatically.

  1. Enable AI Auto-Edit in Settings → Output.
  2. Start recording and speak naturally — don't worry about "um", "uh", or pauses.
  3. Stop recording. AsPeach transcribes, then runs AI cleanup.
  4. The final text has proper punctuation, no filler words, and clean grammar.
  5. Toggle Auto-Edit off anytime for raw, unprocessed transcription.
  6. Auto-Edit works with all Whisper models and all languages.

05. Voice Commands~3 min read

Control your text with your voice. Delete, rephrase, format — all without touching the keyboard.

  1. Enable Command Mode in Settings → Commands.
  2. After dictating, say "delete last sentence" to remove it.
  3. Say "make it formal" to rephrase your last transcription.
  4. Say "new paragraph" to insert a line break and continue dictating.
  5. Say "undo" to revert the last action.
  6. Commands work in any application where AsPeach is active.
  7. Check the full command list in Settings → Commands → View All.

06. Custom Dictionary & Snippets~3 min read

Teach AsPeach your vocabulary and create voice-activated text shortcuts.

  1. Open Settings → Dictionary to add custom words.
  2. Add brand names, technical terms, or names that Whisper mispells.
  3. Set the phonetic form and the correct spelling (e.g., "aspeech" → "AsPeach").
  4. For Snippets, go to Settings → Snippets.
  5. Create a snippet: trigger "my email" → expands to your full email address.
  6. Create multi-line snippets for signatures, templates, or boilerplate text.
  7. Both Dictionary and Snippets sync across devices with Pro.

07. Multilingual Dictation~2 min read

Switch between languages mid-sentence. No toggles, no settings changes — just speak.

  1. AsPeach auto-detects the language you're speaking — no setup needed.
  2. Start dictating in English, then switch to Spanish mid-sentence.
  3. Whisper handles the transition seamlessly.
  4. For best multilingual results, use the Medium or Large model.
  5. Works with 30+ languages including Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, and more.
  6. Custom Dictionary entries work across all languages.

08. Setting Up Pro & Sync~2 min read

Upgrade to Pro, sign in with Google, and sync your settings across all your Macs.

  1. Click the upgrade button in AsPeach or visit our pricing page.
  2. Complete the subscription through our secure payment portal.
  3. Sign in with your Google account inside AsPeach.
  4. Your dictionary, snippets, and settings automatically sync.
  5. Sign in on another Mac — your data appears instantly.
  6. Note: only one device can be active at a time (last login wins).
  7. Your audio and transcriptions are never synced — only settings and preferences.
