Cookie Policy
Last updated: April 6, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how AsPeach ("we", "our", or "us") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our website at aspeach.com (the "Website"). This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
By using our Website, you consent to the use of cookies as described in this policy. You can manage your cookie preferences at any time using the methods described below.
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, provide a better user experience, and provide information to website owners.
Similar technologies include:
- Local Storage: Data stored in your browser that persists even after you close it.
- Session Storage: Data stored temporarily for a single browser session.
- Pixel Tags / Web Beacons: Tiny images that track page views and interactions.
When we refer to "cookies" in this policy, we include all these technologies unless otherwise specified.
2. How We Use Cookies
2.1 Strictly Necessary Storage
These technologies are essential for the Website to function and cannot be disabled. They do not store any personally identifiable information.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| aspeach-cookie-consent | localStorage | Remembers your cookie consent preference | Persistent (until cleared) |
| Firebase Auth cookies | Cookie | Manages authentication state when you sign in | Session / up to 30 days |
| Vercel platform cookies | Cookie | Infrastructure cookies set by our hosting provider (Vercel) for security and performance | Session |
2.2 Analytics Cookies
Analytics cookies are only loaded after you accept the cookie consent banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no analytics scripts are loaded.
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with our Website by collecting and reporting information. All analytics data is aggregated and anonymized — we cannot identify individual users.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand general traffic patterns.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Distinguishes unique visitors | 2 years |
| _ga_* | Maintains session state for Google Analytics 4 | 2 years |
PostHog
We use PostHog for product analytics to understand how our Website is used. PostHog collects:
- Autocapture events: Clicks, form submissions, and page views (aggregated).
- Session recording: Anonymized recordings of user sessions to help us improve the experience. All password fields and sensitive input fields are automatically masked.
PostHog may set cookies such as ph_* to maintain session state. Like Google Analytics, PostHog scripts and cookies are only loaded after you accept the cookie consent banner.
Analytics cookies collect information such as:
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- How you arrived at our Website (referral source)
- Your general geographic region (country/city level, not precise location)
- Device type, browser, and operating system
- Clicks and scroll behavior (aggregated)
We do NOT use analytics cookies to:
- Identify you personally
- Track you across other websites
- Build a profile for advertising
- Sell data to third parties
2.3 Functional Cookies
These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalization to improve your experience:
- Theme preferences: Light/dark mode selection
- Language settings: Your preferred language
- UI preferences: Layout and display options
3. Cookies We Do NOT Use
We want to be clear about what we do NOT do:
- Advertising cookies: We do not serve ads and do not use advertising cookies.
- Retargeting cookies: We do not track you to show you ads elsewhere.
- Third-party marketing cookies: We do not allow advertising networks to place cookies on our Website.
- Cross-site tracking: We do not track your activity on other websites.
- Data selling: We do not sell cookie data or any user data to third parties.
- Fingerprinting: We do not use browser fingerprinting techniques.
4. The Desktop Application
The AsPeach desktop application does not use cookies or web tracking technologies.
The application stores settings, preferences, dictionary entries, and snippets locally on your device using standard application data storage mechanisms (file system). If you are a Pro subscriber and explicitly enable Cloud Sync, selected data (dictionary, snippets, history, custom prompts, AI chat history, and settings) may be transmitted to our servers for synchronization purposes only.
The only network communications from the desktop application are:
- Authentication requests (when you sign in)
- Subscription verification (to check your Pro status)
- Heartbeat signals (to maintain your session and derive your anonymous country code for aggregate analytics)
- Cloud Sync requests (when enabled by you, to synchronize your data across devices)
- Cloud AI requests (when you configure a cloud AI provider such as Groq, OpenAI, or Anthropic with your own API key — transcription text and prompts are sent directly to that provider)
None of these communications involve cookies or tracking your usage patterns.
5. Third-Party Cookies
When you use certain features on our Website, third-party services may set their own cookies. We have no control over these cookies. The third parties we integrate with include:
Authentication Providers (Firebase)
When you sign in using Google, GitHub, X (Twitter), Microsoft, Email (passwordless magic link), or other authentication providers, those services may set cookies related to the authentication process. These cookies are governed by each provider's respective privacy policy.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics sets cookies (_ga, _ga_*) to collect anonymized usage data. These cookies are only set after you accept the cookie consent banner. Google's use of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
PostHog (Product Analytics)
PostHog may set cookies (ph_*) and use local storage for session tracking and product analytics. These are only loaded after you accept the cookie consent banner. PostHog's use of this data is governed by PostHog's Privacy Policy.
Lemon Squeezy (Payments)
When you make a purchase, you are redirected to Lemon Squeezy's checkout page. Lemon Squeezy may set cookies for payment processing, fraud prevention, and session management. These cookies are governed by Lemon Squeezy's Privacy Policy.
6. Managing Cookies
You have several options to control and manage cookies:
6.1 Cookie Consent Banner
When you first visit our Website, a cookie consent banner allows you to accept or decline analytics cookies. If you decline, analytics scripts (Google Analytics and PostHog) will not load and no analytics cookies will be set. If you change your mind later, you can clear your browser's local storage for aspeach.com, which will cause the consent banner to appear again on your next visit.
6.2 Browser Settings
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically:
- View what cookies are stored and delete specific ones
- Block all cookies or third-party cookies
- Set preferences for specific websites
- Delete all cookies when you close the browser
Note: Blocking strictly necessary cookies may cause parts of the Website to malfunction.
6.3 Browser-Specific Instructions
6.4 Opt-Out Tools
- Network Advertising Initiative Opt-Out
- Digital Advertising Alliance Opt-Out
- European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance
7. Data Retention
- Session cookies: Automatically deleted when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies: Expire after their set duration (typically 30 days to 12 months) or when you manually delete them.
- Cookie consent preference: Stored for 12 months, after which we will ask for your consent again.
- Analytics data: Aggregated analytics data may be retained for up to 26 months for trend analysis.
8. Your Rights
Under GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable privacy laws, you have the right to:
- Be informed: Know what cookies we use and why (this policy).
- Consent: Choose whether to accept or reject non-essential cookies.
- Access: Request information about the data collected through cookies.
- Delete: Request deletion of data collected through cookies.
- Change preferences: Modify your cookie preferences at any time.
- Withdraw consent: Withdraw previously given consent at any time.
To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@aspeach.com or use the cookie settings in your browser.
9. Do Not Track
Some browsers have a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that signals to websites that you do not want to be tracked. Our Website currently does not respond to DNT signals. However, we do not engage in cross-site tracking or behavioral advertising regardless of your DNT setting.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or other factors. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
For significant changes to cookie usage, we will display a new consent banner on your next visit.
